First up is West Latitude, a 5.5% ABV session rye, brewed in collaboration with Bear Republic Brewing, Faction Brewing, Mad River Brewing, Magnolia Brewing, and Maui Brewing. According to the web site:
West Latitude combines our Californian Left Coast love of fruity hops with a touch of Hawaiian "aloha" from the addition of hibiscus flowers, all anchored by robust malts and spicy rye. This session beer is light in body but looms large, like the long shadows of a westward setting sun.
To The Pint
Jeremy - Interesting. Lighter mouthfeel, with a decent amount of carbonation. Combination of hops and the bite from the rye is interesting. Would probably try it on tap, but not sure I would pick up a six pack. - 7/10Keith - Rye can take over the beer, but this one is well balanced. A little high on the ABV to call it a session beer. Approachable and would go well with a summer BBQ lunch. - 7/10Gary - Can't taste much of the hibiscus. Darker than expected. Good summer beer for the Beer Camp pack. A little disappointing based on Sierra Nevada's typical beer camp offerings. - 6/10Rob - Nope. Nope. Nope. What else have we got to drink? Disgusting rye with hibiscus nastiness. Everything I hate in a beer. Offensive in every sense of the word. - 1/10
Total: 5.25/10
