Passing the hat

During the coverage of Nerdtacular and w00tstock, it became apparent that the venerable Dell XPS laptop that we have been using as a broadcast rig for the last 6 years is reaching the end of its' useful life. In order to continue doing regular shows and convention coverage, we will need to upgrade to a modern mobile workstation. This is also our opportunity to get hardware capable of supporting expansion into video production.

Enter our friends at Doghouse Systems. During Nerdtacular, I had the opportunity to meet Clark Petri, who was attending in order to present a Doghouse Systems gaming laptop to a lucky winner in the Nerdtacular Prizeocalypse. Sadly, that winner was not me. Happily, Clark has been able to secure us a significant discount on a high-end mobile workstation to serve as our new roving broadcast rig.

This is where you come in. Obtaining the laptop, cameras, and software needed to move into multi-camera live streaming turns out to be a significant investment; money that we simply do not have. We are starting an Indiegogor project to see if we can do this with your assistance. We like Indiegogo rather than the usual PayPal donation button because donations will only be charged to people if we get enough pledges to cover the costs. If we don't get enough, then pledges will be refunded.
